Our Citizenship Counts is a collaborative bipartisan government watch group involving more than a dozen legal scholars specializing in citizenship, constitutional, and Supreme Court law as well as dozens of community partners across the country working together to ensure we provide the most accurate facts and knowledge that deliver clarity on the debate about adding a citizenship question on the US census.
“One thing is clear: the mixed decision means that neither side had a clear win. Accordingly, the question of citizenship – as distinct from border issues—becomes a major issue in the 2020 elections.”
The mission of Our Citizenship Counts is to provide clear facts, that is easy to understand and not in legal jargon, to everyday Americans so they can easily understand what the recent SCOTUS census citizenship question ruling means, its implications, and what lies ahead for we the people.
Between the mixed-ruling, President Trump’s ask of his legal counsel to weigh options of delaying the census, SCOTUS’ other ruling on gerrymandering, and other political matters, we find it important to deliver bipartisan, factual content on this very sensitive issue.
